House Hunting

Well, it happened. Cole and I actually started looking for a place together this week. Haven't really seen many places, so far just 2, but have more to see tomorrow. We have already had a good experience and a bad experience. The people are great so nice and are not the best as English, but hey I am not that great at German, so it's the same playing field. The first place looked good on paper, but when we drove up to it it was not the prettiest thing. This weird yellow rectangular trailer like place in the middle of a small town industrial factory. We pretty much knew first thing we were going to turn it down, but you know you have to take a look to see if this is what we are going to be dealing with in all the other places. We walked inside and it had all been refurbished like IKEA boo yah! The layout was super strange, it really was a rectangle. Let's start at one side of the house, a square room you walk into another square room to walk into the entry way which led to a bathroom which led to the kitchen which led to another square room which led to another square room. Strange. And the nearest town was so cute but completely and utterly claustrophobic. My dad would not survive a minute. People would park in the street which was amazing because the street was barely big enough for one SMALL (like a mini cooper) to drive down it. It didn't feel right I could not be that close to anybody even the the apartment was out of the way, except that it was in the middle of the factory construction field, it was a NO.

The apartment today was pretty much a complete opposite. Different town there was actually space to park a car, and the landlord knew more English! He was so nice and was ready for us to move in TODAY! It was a cute German house that actually contained two separate apartments one big one small. The smaller one seemed like it came out of the 70's just imagine that kitchen already way smaller and all the weird floral green tile. Just was not feeling it. So we went to the bigger one that we were actually there for originally. It was BEAUTIFUL! New wood floors, freshly painted wall,s new doors, an IKEA kitchen where the refrigerator and the dishwasher BLENDED IN!! There was so much space, an amazing view and a balcony. Definitely, an option. Oh and the best part was this really big room where one of the walls was a dark wood I really liked it, but there are these shutters that you close on the windows that make the room pitch black, and the biggest wall was completely flat white, all I could see was a MOVIE THEATER ROOM. This place pretty much had what we needed. Just a few things that weren't the best, one there was no cell service which isn't a big deal because it is actually better for us to get a land line and call the States we get awesome deals here, and the second and biggest down fall was that it was right next to a church. Not just your run of the mill church, but one with a bell that chimes every half an hour for an ENTIRE minute!! It is right next to the bedroom. So we decided to think about it. The landlord so nice, and so ready for us to move in, this house meant a lot to him because it was his fathers, and his uncle lives next store, he lives up the street and somewhere in between is his sister in law. Surrounded by family. Not sure if that is a good or a bad thing, but interesting.

Well, tomorrow is another day. Full of more adventures and places to see. Hopefully we will find a place to call home. Wish us luck! Love K&C
